Café Santai

Art direction and brand building for an all-day casual dining concept at East Coast Park.

Context

Café Santai is the laid-back little sibling of Enak Enak, an all-day casual dining spot nestled in East Coast Park. Built for easy mornings and breezy afternoons by the coast, it takes the heart and warmth of Enak Enak and dials it back to something simpler: comfort food, familiar flavours and good vibes at accessible prices.

Santai means "relax" in Malay, and the brand lives up to its name.

Approach

This was a solo freelance project focused on art direction and building the wider brand around an existing logo supplied by the client. The challenge was to take that starting point and create a visual world that felt coherent and true to the café's coastal, unhurried personality, while giving it enough character to stand apart from Enak Enak.

I developed the brand patterns, iconography and graphic elements that formed the wider visual language. I also established the direction for social media posts, setting a consistent approach to content and imagery.

The identity was carried into the physical space through signage and the food menu board, keeping the same relaxed character across the different ways customers encounter the brand.
