Singapore Armed Forces

Print layout and cover artwork for two formal military publications.

Context

Two formal military publications designed during my National Service, one for SAF Day 2019 and another for a Commanding Officer's Change of Command Parade in 2020.

Both were produced for senior officers, commanders and guests, with the design shaped by the formality and ceremonial weight of each occasion.

Approach

Both projects were solo, with the SAF as the client for the SAF Day brochure and my unit commanders as the direct client for the Change of Command Parade piece.

My work covered cover artwork, layout design, content organisation and colour direction for each brochure. Getting the tone right mattered as much as the visual execution. These were ceremonial publications rather than commercial pieces, so every layout decision needed to feel considered and appropriate for the setting.

The Change of Command Parade brochure also had a clear narrative to carry. It introduced the incoming commanding officer and her vision for the unit while acknowledging the contributions of the outgoing commander.

I structured the content around that transition, giving both sides of the story enough weight while keeping the publication visually clean and easy to follow.

Both brochures were used at their respective events and were well received by commanders and guests.
